As a social business, the impact we make is hugely important and goes beyond the products we make to how we enrich the lives of women and communities.

In the coastal town of Badagry situated on the outskirt of Lagos State, you’d find beautiful layouts of white sand and an abundant nest of tall coconut trees. This is where our Coconut Oil processing center is based.

One of the major indigenous heritage Badagry is known for is coconut and the women of Badagry possess a unique traditional coconut oil processing skill which has been passed down from generation to generation. Coconut oil is a primary ingredient in some of our skinfood products and before we located our processing center in Badagry, the opportunities for many women in Badagry to earn decent income from coconut oil processing was negligible. At the processing center we employ women to mill and process the coconuts to oil which is then package or use as an ingredient to formulate other skinfood products like body cream and soaps. Working with Omaness at the processing center enables women earn an average of N2,500 ($50) per day which is about twice the minimum wage obtainable in Nigeria.

The difference this new income is having on the women can be seen as some are able to now put three square meal on the table, support their children’s education and even safe to start a new petty business.

In total we are working are working with 18 women in Badagry who between them have over 100 dependants (children or family members who live with them). By reselling and purchasing our coconut oil based skinfood products, our skinfood merchants and customers are directly enriching hundreds of lives.

As the demand for Omaness skinfood products grows around the world, the social impact will grow alongside, enabling more and more women to improve their lives and those of their families. This is what we mean when we say “Omaness Skinfood Is Made To Enrich”.
