Our Story
The Birth of the Company Called Omaness
It all began in 2015, that was the year I had my first real skinfood experience
At the time I was actively leading a non-profit organization I had founded and was working on a program with low-income women. I have heard about shea butter but never used it, not untiI got a tub from one of the women I was working with and it soon became my skin and hair saviour. The nourishing experience I had with shea butter triggered my interest and that led to how I began researching and discovering about more amazing indigenous skinfood ingredients like dongoyaro (neem), samia(tamarind), ose dudu (black soap) kuka (baobab), cocoa butter, palm kernel oil, My interest grew as I realized how many of these ingredients contributed to the livelihood of women.
After spending almost 10years executing charity interventions for low-income women, I had become concerned with the progress and wanted to create a different kind of company that provided women with the opportunity to better their lives without depending on charity.
This was what sparked the idea to create a line of products inspired by the ingredients I had discovered that would offer people an opportunity to also enjoy the nourishing experience I had as well as provide the women who handcraft the indigenous ingredients with the opportunity to increase their income.
In 2017, I launched our first line of body butters and that marked the birth of the company Omaness that continues to create amazing skinfood products that nourishes and enriches!
